Research

As a clinical psychologist in the oncology field, my program of research focuses on the development, evaluation, and delivery of interventions to reduce distress and enhance well-being among individuals affected by cancer.

My main areas of research focus on understanding and evaluating interventions based on:

(1) mindfulness and other mind-body practices (like yoga) for alleviating distress and enhancing well-being in cancer

(2) psychological and biological pathways of health outcomes in cancer (such as depression and inflammation)

(3) the role of interpersonal relationships (such as between intimate partners) in coping with cancer.

Recent work has also extended to qualitative research on clinical communication (i.e., between patient and clinician) about cancer-related psychosocial issues.
